Zwemcentrum Rotterdam will be the venue for the Rotterdam Qualification Meet (RQM) from 3 to 6 December. A total of 122 top swimmers from home and abroad will compete these days to keep or earn tickets for the Olympic and Paralympic Games of Tokyo 2021. Swimmers can also qualify for the European Championships (50m) in May 2021.
In addition to the best Dutch swimmers, the organisation has also managed to get top swimmers from Austria, Belgium, Israel, Switzerland and Ukraine to compete. The largest foreign delegation comes from Belgium (10 men, 11 women). Due to the COVID measures, the public is unfortunately not welcome in Zwemcentrum Rotterdam, but all competitions can be followed on a Live Stream (with commentary).
The organisation of the RQM is in the hands of the KNZB in cooperation with Rotterdam Topsport and Sportbedrijf Rotterdam. André Cats, technical director of the KNZB: “We are very happy with our loyal partners in Rotterdam who, despite the difficult circumstances, make it possible to organise this match. It’s great for our top swimmers to be able to race against each other at a high level in a beautiful top-class sports accommodation. We are happy that we can give all swimmers who qualify for the European Championship, the Olympic or Paralympic Games the chance to qualify in a real competition with a strong field of competitors”.
