Strong EQM to look forward to.
For many years the Swimcup has been held in Eindhoven in April. The 2020 edition was supposed to be all about Olympic and Paralympic qualifications, but unfortunately, due to the COVID crisis, the Swimcup had to be cancelled last year. This year the Swimcup has been renamed to the Eindhoven Qualification Meet. Only a limited number of participants are allowed to participate due to the current COVID restrictions.
Nevertheless, there is much to experience in the Pieter van den Hoogenband zwemstadion on April 9, 10 and 11. The entire Dutch top will be at the start. In addition to our own top swimmers, the OC swimmers, a selection of club swimmers and foreign swimmers mainly from Belgium and Germany will climb onto the starting blocks.
In December in Rotterdam an important step was taken in qualifying for the Olympic Games and European Championships. Nevertheless, there are still good chances to fill one of the open spots. For the Paralympic swimmers, Eindhoven is the last chance to meet the limits. After the EQM the qualification for the Paralympic Games will be completed. For the replacement EYOF and EYC limits can also be obtained, but this qualification will only be completed in June.
In short: there is a lot at stake in Eindhoven. I am very pleased that with combined forces we are able to make this EQM possible.
