Top Swimmers In Action At Eindhoven Qualification Meet

Top swimmers in action at Eindhoven Qualification Meet

The KNZB organises the Eindhoven Qualification Meet (EQM) from Friday 9 to Saturday 11 April. This new top sport event is a long distance swimming competition under the COVID top sport regulation of NOCNSF/VWS.

In the Pieter van den Hoogenband Zwemstadion in Eindhoven, a total of about 220 swimmers will be admitted, including about 60 invited foreign swimmers. During the EQM, limits can be swum for the European Championships and the EYK, as well as for the Paralympic Games and the Tokyo Olympic Games.

The format of the competition will be very similar to the qualification competition organised in Rotterdam in early December 2020. Unfortunately, it is still not permitted to welcome spectators at this event. All matches can however be followed live (and for free) via the livestream and livetiming on this website www.eqm2021.nl.

The EQM replaces this year’s famous Swimcup which could not take place due to the current circumstances. Nevertheless, there is spectacle to be expected in Eindhoven. Several swimmers will be on the hunt for a ticket for the European Championships (juniors and seniors) and there are also tickets available for the Tokyo Olympics at various distances.

For the Paralympians, the EQM is the last chance to qualify for the Tokyo team, for the Olympians there is one last chance for the European Championships in Budapest in May. This only applies to the distances for which there are still starting tickets available.

This first ever Eindhoven Qualification Meet is made possible by Brabant Sport and the Municipality of Eindhoven.
